Annual Member’s Meeting & Family Camp

November 7-9, 2025

Friends and members of Drift Creek Camp are invited to gather at DCC beginning Friday evening, November 7, for tasty treats and cider as well as casual conversations around the fire. Saturday will kick off with our members’ business meeting, lunch, and the fund-raising auction. Saturday evening will offer time and space to gather casually around the tables for games, conversations, and building community. We will gather for worship on Sunday morning with hymn singing and reflections. We apologize for the change in planning, but, unfortunately, former caretaker, Sara Gibson, will not be able to be with us this year as had been previously planned. We will miss her dearly, but we look forward to another time when she will be able to share her enthusiastic love for mushrooms with the camp community.

Annual Meeting is a wonderful time to meet the team that keeps things rolling at DCC throughout the year! Take advantage of the opportunity to thank those who are moving on to life’s next adventure and thank them for their service to DCC! Chris Colvin has been serving as a Caretaker at DCC since January of 2021 and he will wrap up his time at camp later this fall. He arrived at Drift Creek along with his buddy, Gabe Barnes. At the time, Covid was still affecting operations so there was not much rental activity. With things being slow, it seemed like a good time to jump into renovating the lodge’s second floor women’s restroom. Ha! We really had no idea what we were getting into! Each step of the project seemed to lead to 20 more. But Chris and Gabe carried on with great enthusiasm! Chris has brought so many gifts to the role of caretaking. He has independently learned the ins and outs of the generator, the battery system, finagling with the communication system and providing extraordinary customer service to guests and an always willing heart in the kitchen and all around camp! He has truly been a gift to Drift Creek and we are beyond grateful for his excellent and thoughtful service. You will be missed, Chris! Don’t be a stranger!

Lilly Kauffman was a camper at DCC when we started in 2007. We’ve had lots of laughs about the fact that her mom is also Brenda Kauffman and is also involved with camp work! Lilly was an enthusiastic camper, always ready for the next adventure. She started volunteering at Drift Creek with the Youth Group from Zion Mennonite Church and also served as an eager and willing Teen Volunteer. Lilly has fun wherever she is and has always been a joy to work with. When she served as a counselor, she was especially gifted at connecting with kids who might not otherwise engage in programs. She is a great listener, creative and fun to be around. For the past couple of summers, she has led the Teen Volunteers with grace, creativity and thoughtfulness. The TVs have loved her and she has created a safe and welcoming space for youth. Lilly has brought her stellar organizational skills to DCC and has, somehow, managed to create an active inventory list for the pantry and DCC gear. She is always willing to jump in! Lilly, as you make plans for life after camp, know that we will miss your creativity and your infectious laughter!

Planners are looking for auction donations. If you have an item, gift certificate, service or experience to donate in support of DCC operations, please contact the office to make arrangements by either emailing info@driftcreek.org; calling 971-600-1244 or sending items to PO Box 1110, Lincoln City, OR 97367. The auction will take place in the afternoon of Saturday, November 8. There will be both a live and silent auction. Crowd favorites often include things like apples, nuts, hand-crafted items, household goods, experiences, hosted meals, etc.

Unable to attend but like to contribute? Consider these options:
Become an annual member, become a lifetime member, make a financial donation, make plans to volunteer! Did you know that DCC is used year-round by families, churches, public and private schools, homeschool groups and universities? While some groups prepare their own meals, others opt for camp’s food service, which requires volunteers to help prepare and serve. Kitchen help is needed throughout the year, especially during summer camps. Call 971-600-1244 or email info@driftcreek.org for information. We’d love to have your helping hands! OR If you are interested in working on a facility or outdoor project, please let us know! Volunteer support is always appreciated. We are happy to provide housing and meals for you while volunteering.

Gift in kind ideas: The camp office is always in need of postage stamps, business envelopes, printing paper. The camp kitchen is in need of a good quality pizza cutter, a new blender, slotted spoons, a flexible rounded dough scraper, as well as heat-resistant rubber scrapers/spatulas. We are also looking into replacing our coffee brewing system with something larger. Suggestions? The Yamhill cabin is in need of a new coffee brewer. (The current one is really small and has a glass carafe that sits on a heating element. A larger brewer that dispenses into an insulated carafe would be dreamy!)

Support for the on-site team of caretakers is always appreciated! Visiting DCC provides a perfect opportunity to say thank you to the caretakers! This is a hardworking crew that has sacrificed a lot in order to serve at Drift Creek. We are also transitioning into the slower season when food service groups are much less frequent. Consider the possibility of bringing a bag of groceries, snacks or treats with you to share with the caretakers at Annual Meeting! They would be most appreciative!

In addition to auction options, DCC has a variety of options for camp-themed gear in the Camp Store. This year, consider supporting DCC and the happy camper on your Christmas list!
