Drift Creek Camp a rental and retreatcenter near the Oregon Coast
Located in the Siuslaw National Forest, Drift Creek Camp provides a vibrant setting among ancient spruce and hemlock trees. The coastal mountain retreat is ideal for conferences, church retreats, outdoor education, and family reunions. In addition to a large central lodge, space is available year-round in cabins for use by individuals or small Guests can renew the mind, body and spirit with access to miles of forest trails & the refreshing sounds of a cleansing stream. DCC's access road will be closed in 2012 to repair a culvert that is near the creek and fragile salmon population. It is vital that construction occur during the dry season to minimize debris in the creek.
The Hebo Station has prioritized the project. Although the construction will interrupt programs, the repair will ultimately keep the road and campers safe. However, the timing and loss of income will , create enormous financial challenges. The closure is during the peak rental season. If we were to do nothing, Drift Creek would face $80,000 in lost revenue. However, with creative thinking and adjusting summer programs, we are able to reduce DCC's summertime losses by $15-$20,000. While a significant gap of approximately $60,000 remains, these temporary adjustments were deemed most fiscally responsible.
